|Are you a Vegaphobe?
The term "Vegaphobe" is the loathing of vegetarians out of the fear that,
deep inside, you already are a vegetarian.
You are a Vegaphobe if you answer
yes to these questions...
1. When in
a restaurant, does it irritate you to hear the phrase, "No thanks. I'm
2. Do you think
vegetarians are out to take over the world?
3. Do you think
being vegetarian is a genetic disorder and a sign of human weakness?
Are YOU in danger of becoming
a vegetarian? Answer these questions:
1. If there
were no grocery stores, would you be able to hunt, slaughter, and process
a defenseless animal for fun, food, or profit?
2. Do you still
cry when you see "Bambi's" mother shot - even though you've seen the film
3. Do you feel
guilty when you accidentally step on a snail on your doorstep?
4. When you
walk through the supermarket, do you hold your nose and ask, "What's that
smell?" and then feel ill when you realize it's the meat section? (Yes,
folks that is rotting flesh!)
5. Do you find yourself
making excuses like: "I'm almost a vegetarian. I mostly eat fish and chicken
and I only eat beef once a week."
or "My doctor says I have to eat better for my health."
If you answered YES to any of
the above questions, YOU could be in danger of becoming a VEGETARIAN!!
Is there a cure for "Vegaphobe?"
YES! Go ahead and give in to those desires to avoid all meat and meat products.
Little Known Facts about Vegetarians...
Let's clarify what a "vegetarian" life is...
Okay, so now you know a little more
about vegetarianism in
the carnivorous world.
Why This Page?
Many of our friends and fiends have
been asking me for recipes. Even more ask, "How do you go from carnivore
to vegetarian." Perhaps you're down to "meat once a week" or "only chicken"
and need that reassurance that life without consuming dead animals won't
be... well, lifeless. Hopefully, we've made it a little easier with
this cookbook page.
Many folks are also aware that I am Native American and
honor the traditions of my ancestors. This seems to only further confuse
folks as to my vegetarian lifestyle. After all, don't many Native Nations
still eat Buffalo - which
we call Sacred?
First, I have a migraine condition which is triggered
by most meat products. Even free range animals have to meet certain
FDA inoculation requirements and I'm allergic to those as well.
Second, and foremost, we must all choose the path we follow
on our Earth Walk. My culture believes "no man can tell another man what
to do." We can only lead by example. Without getting too preachy - I choose
not to eat my animal friends out of respect for their being. Am I a wimpy
bleeding heart? Nope, I'm a Veteran and a pretty tough cookie. But, I believe
(as does Reggie) that we can survive with alternatives to killing... our
animals and ourselves. It is said. Ah HO!
